About Anna

Literacy skills, the ability to think and write creatively, enrich life inside and outside of school. Reading and writing poetry empowers people to articulate their perspectives and experience and develop an empathetic, attentive relationship with the world around them. I have taught poetry in classrooms ranging from kindergarten to college. I hold a PhD in Literary Arts from the University of Denver, where I taught creative writing and literature courses. I have also taught at the University of Montana and through Lighthouse Writers Workshop in Denver. I was a resident poet for the Missoula Writing Collaborative, and I taught poetry lessons in five elementary and high schools in Montana. I currently work in research, and my first book of poems, titled Surety, was published this spring.
