About Amy

I am an experienced teacher and tutor with over 30 years of experience. I specialize in helping students build confidence and strengthen their skills in reading, spelling, writing, and math. I have experience working with children who learn differently including students with ADHD, dyslexia, and autism. I use creative, multisensory teaching strategies, games, movement, repetition, and hands-on activities to make learning enjoyable and help concepts stick. For reading and spelling, I incorporate strategies from Orton-Gillingham and Secret Stories to help children understand phonics patterns rather than simply memorize words. I tailor each session to the individual child's learning style and needs. My approach is patient, encouraging, and positive. I love helping children who have become frustrated with school begin to feel successful again. I also communicate regularly with parents. I currently have limited availability for 1-2 additional students.
