I've been tutoring for more than 14 years with students as young as 4 all the way through college. I have tutored in a variety of subjects and specialize in math and science, including advanced math and science. I believe that it is important to understand the process to get the right answer (so that a student can do it independently later) compared to just getting the right answer. Learning the study skills is part of what I try to include in my tutoring. I also try to relate subjects to a student's interests and the real world. I often find that it makes it more exciting and motivating to learn the subject. I prefer to build relationships with both the child and parents, but I am available for both long-term tutoring as well as tutoring for specific projects. I'm also available for virtual tutoring.

I highly recommended Amy! My daughter was failing Algebra last year when we decided to get Amy to tutor her over the summer. Amy's technique was highly effective and she realized right away that a lot of my daughter's problem was lack of preparation and organizing her school work. I particularly loved the way Amy got the whole family involved by using a calendar of events, study time, extra-curricular activities etc. She really worked wonders on teaching my daughter how to study and really focus. It did not take long at all for my daughter to start building confidence in her ability to actually do Algebra, become more organized and learn better study habits. My daughter even says she loves math now, I never thought I'd hear that! My daughter has an "A" in algebra since the school year started and I praise Amy for getting her there with her excellent technique, skill and genuine caring. The best tutor ever! Thanks! Darlene M.
