I also have taken several classes about education and childhood development, focused on ages newborn to 3. My main interest in working with children is language development. We hired Amy as a nanny for our son, and she worked with us for nearly a year and a half, which only ended because we moved overseas. I was nervous at the idea of leaving my son with someone else, and he can be a bit particular about who he likes, but he took to Amy so quickly! She is patient, gentle, kind, thoughtful, and funny, and can easily get on a kid’s level to play and have fun while also still gently holding limits and boundaries and meeting their needs. I constantly appreciated that Amy made it easy to communicate about logistics and things like that, and she was so flexible and easy going and also let me know when she needed something. It feels like an understatement to say that she was a crucial part of our family! Whenever my son was with her, I never worried about him. If we hadn’t have moved, I would have worked with her for as long as she wanted to stay. I know it can be hard to find a great caregiver for your kids, but Amy is an absolutely incredible person and amazing at her job, and any family would be so lucky to have her on their team.
