My first skill I have for your kids is minimal screen time play. Engaging their imaginations and doing hands on activities is so rewarding! Even if something is playing in the background, having their main focus be a drawing or toys helps create separation. Another skill is redirection. When kids have their mind set on something, like not wanting to leave the park, or wanting to play a game their way, it's hard to get them to think any other way. I'm great at that! Redirecting attention and train of thought to a compromise or thinking of others feelings helps them grow. Final of my big 3, is patience and empathy. Even though the days and hours can fly by so fast, learning takes time. Knowing how to really sit with a child through their learning and helping them when mistakes or confusion happens, to me, is the most important of all. Kids want to learn, so making sure they have a safe space to do that in makes all the difference in their confidence and motivations!
