About Amaya

Hi, my name is Amaya. I am a 24-year-old UCF student finishing up her bachelors degree in exceptional student education. I have worked in schools since I was 18, primarily with children diagnosed with Autism but have also worked with other special needs children. I am attentive and caring. I love what I do! I'd describe my personality as patient, nurturing, and structured. My little brother was diagnosed with Autism in 2008 and ever since then I have had the passion to become a special needs teacher. I have had the joy and privilege of being a part of some many different kids journeys. I started working with kids in 2008 when I was just a kid myself. Every year, from 5th grade to 12th grade, I would volunteer to help out in the special needs unit at my schools. I also helped raise my younger brother who is diagnosed autistic.
