About Amanda

After graduating from college, I completed Orton Gillingham training and became a tutor for students with dyslexia. For the next six years while my children were small, I worked in numerous schools with students varying in age from first grade to high school. I then spent the next 20 years as a gifted intervention specialist, working with students identified as gifted in the areas of math, English language arts, or superior cognitive. Many of my students were twice exceptional and required tutoring in other academic or social-emotional areas during my lunch or planning time. Most importantly, I taught kids. We laughed, we played, and we learned along the way. I pride myself in students looking forward to coming to class/sessions. They enjoy our time together and so do I. I believe in the power of relationships before learning.
