My childcare career started out like most, babysitting when I was 12 years old for family members and friends of the family. I decided my junior year of high school that I was going to work with children, make a difference in the world one child at a time. I got my first job as an aide in the toddler room at a childcare center. I worked there for 4 years; during that time I also graduated high school and began college. I was promoted from aide to head teacher of the baby room. Also, in the summer, I worked with the school aged children. The childcare center began its STARS accreditation and I was then promoted again to head teacher of the preschool room. My senior year of college I decided to take some time to explore different childcare settings and environments. I did my student teaching at a Head Start program and a college campus childcare facility. The summer I graduated college, a nanny position opened up. I was excited to try something new within the field of childcare. Working within a family's home is, in my opinion, the best way to conduct childcare. I was responsible for light housekeeping, three meals a day, and 7 to 8 hours of care to four beautiful girls, ages 4, 4, 8, & 9, the youngest two being twins. Also a large Golden Retriever.
