I'm a special education technician, working 1:1, and in small groups, with children who have a variety of diagnoses, in a special ed classroom as well as mainstream classrooms. I have also worked 1:1 with kids on the autism spectrum at their homes and in their communities as a behavioral health professional (BHP). I love my job and am not looking to leave it, I am looking to supplement my income with care hours on evenings, weekends, and during school and summer vacations.

Amanda has a wonderful way with children.  She is patient, kind, and really fun!  She is very creative, willing to get down and play, but also provides firm boundaries in a loving and responsible way.  She also has a lot of experience working with kids with special needs. Amanda provided full-time care for my first-born son in her home for about 2 years from when he was 1.5 - 2.5 years old. She is patient, kind, empathetic, and has the amazing ability to relate to children while maintaining important boundaries. I always felt my son was safe and welcomed in her presence. She kept a wonderful journal of authentic notes throughout each day about my son's activities, his eating habits, any challenges and accomplishments. As a full-time working mother, I deeply appreciated these notes that kept me connected to my child's development. She successfully potty-trained my son and another little girl simultaneously, which was a huge bonus. I would have felt comfortable keeping him with Amanda until Kindergarten, but an opportunity with a preschool at my work arose and the convenience factor won. Amanda is a natural nurturer and just an amazing human being!  Just chat with her and you will understand immediately.

Amanda has a great experience with both typical children and disabled children. She used to be our behavioral health professional, which means, she spent a great amount of time helping my two children with severe disabilities become more social, to be able to learn skills such as potty training, eating properly, learning words, regular skills people usually take for granted like being in public. 
She is still part of our family and the only reason she is not working with us is because we moved to another State. She is the biggest reason why my children are able to go to places with no meltdown, she is the biggest reason my son with autism is fully potty trained. My children have a strong foundation because of her. Any family would be lucky to have her.

Amanda cared for my girls for over two years. Her heart is so big, she will give your kids all the love they need while you are away. She is always thinking of fun, inventive crafts and games. Your kids will not be bored. Amanda also recognizes how each child is special and shifts her care to what they need  moment by moment. Two enthusiastic thumbs up!
