Amanda was so patient and fun, my girls loved her and I am very grateful to her! I’d recommend her to anyone.

We hired Amanda for 31 hours of babysitting over 5 days while we were on vacation in Hawaii. Her rate was $35/hr for 1 child, $40/hr for 2 children, significantly higher than the $26/hr posted on Care.com. We paid the 50% deposit per her request 1 month before our trip. The first 3 days there were some minor bumps but overall her care was satisfactory. On the 4th day, she asked to cancel as her car had been damaged and needed fixing before a heavy storm came up. On the following day, we planned to go scuba diving with an early start at  6am for babysitting. The storm caused the diving to be cancelled, so we contacted AJ to discuss if changing hours or a later start time. She responded by stating we had cancelled and forfeited the entire deposit for the day. She returned $10 from the deposit on the 4th day that SHE cancelled herself, citing deductions due to parking fees. She then ignored all subsequent communications for several days. She has refused to engage in any reasonable discussion and has refused to reschedule or refund the deposit. We paid for 6.5 out of 13 hours of childcare that she simply did not show up for, forcing us to change plans at considerable additional expense as well. 

AJ was an absolute delight and one of the best babysitters we’ve ever had. She immediately connected with both of my kids—even my younger one, who is usually very skeptical of sitters. I especially appreciated how thoughtfully she talked with and played with my six-year-old. AJ was extremely communicative, which made me feel completely comfortable leaving my kids in her care while we were on vacation. She even tidied up the kitchen without being asked! I truly wish we had a sitter like her at home and would recommend her without hesitation.

AJ was excellent with our children during our recent vacation in Hawaii. AJ was timely, communicative, and provided us with much appreciated guidance on how to best approach navigating childcare on our first trip to Hawaii with our toddler and baby. We are so grateful to AJ for helping make our vacation stress free!

AJ was incredibly sweet and attentive with my 1-year-old baby. We were visiting the Big Island and needed one-time care so we could watch the manta rays swim at night and enjoy an adults-only evening out. Despite our baby’s early bedtime, AJ handled everything beautifully—she interacted warmly, sent us reassuring photos, and made sure we felt completely at ease.

She was courteous and professional throughout: texting promptly, scheduling a Zoom interview beforehand, and even providing references for us to call. I’d absolutely recommend AJ to anyone vacationing on the Big Island who needs trustworthy, loving care for their little one.

AJ  is a fun, nurturing and reliable babysitter that our children love to be with! She always comes on time with a smile and ready to have a good time with the kids.  She is easy going, adaptable, and very communicative.  She always texts us pictures of the kids while we are away.  She shares exactly what they eat and any bathroom or diaper breaks that have taken place.  She takes her job seriously while maintaining a fun and engaging environment.  I enthusiastically recommend AJ as a caretaker for your children.

Amanda (AJ) has done a wonderful job babysitting our 2.5 and 5 year old boys regularly for the last several months.  She’s been reliable (and communicative if something out of her control comes up). The boys enjoy her playful spirit, and—for us—she gets them successfully fed, cleaned, and in bed. She’s helped with kindergarten homework, driven them back and forth from the park, and tidies up the house at the end of the babysitting appointment. She’s also an engaging and interesting person, good to know on the island!

AJ was very easy to work with. She was extremely flexible with changing times and willing to travel. We hired her to do a 2 tank manta dive, unfortunately the first one got cancelled due to swells. She was open to coming again the next night! AJ sends great photo updates, very assuring for this first time mama.

Her warm and caring nature makes a lasting impact—our child often talks about her and looks forward to their time together. AJ is reliable, attentive, and creates a safe, positive environment. Amanda (AJ) has been my daughter’s favorite babysitter since day 1. She really just gets it. You can tell she’s experienced because she has all the right tricks and moves. She gets on their level and has fun. We love AJ!

AJ was great!  She babysat our toddler and 8 month old while we did some adult adventures exploring the Big Island.  Our boys were taken care of and enjoyed having Ms. AJ around.  My son even asked about her when will she come back?  :). So of course we asked her to babysit while we did the Manta Rays.  She was communicative and if we’re ever back we know who to call if we need someone to watch our babies!

Amanda was attentive and very caring to our three children. She sent us text message to updates and all around was just amazing Baby Sitter.

We had Amanda come over to babysit our 2.5 year old boy for the evening from 5pm to 9pm, ON THE LAST MINUTE demand(thank you so much!!)!  She is so professional since the first minute we get connected and we even were able to have an online screen to meet to meet each other and discuss the kid’s schedule staff in the night before. Amanda showed up on time with even couple of minutes early because she knew we were staying in the hotel so need several minutes for us to pick here up. Amanda covers all routines perfectly and most importantly my kid really had a great time with her playing in the resort with our consent! As a family traveling with young kids, I really appreciate the help that Amanda can provide that saved our trip!! I’ll definitely recommend her and we will have her for sure next time when we are in Kona. Of course her name is already given to our friends!!

Amanda is wonderful. She genuinely seeks to connect with our family and understand our dynamic and needs. She makes the days fun for the kiddos and also keeps with the priorities of the parents (healthy eating, rest time). She tidies up when she can and has a positive attitude. She is also communicative and punctual. Highly recommend!  

Amanda is a very loving, caring and creative caregiver. My daughter has truly cherished memories with her in Honolulu as they adventured around the city and island. Amanda was thoughtful with their activities and overall created a very positive experience for our family.
