I have raised 3 special needs children with issues including ASD, PDD, prematurity, asthma, respiratory issues and monitoring, developmental delays, auditory processing, sensory integration dysfunction, speech delays, Dysphagia, Celiac disease, and food allergies. I am well versed in current intervention and positive reinforcement strategies. And let's not forget to have fun! I've lived in Cary/Raleigh since 1980, attended Wake Co schools, then NCSU, majoring in Applied Mathematics. I went to work for IBM, then retired from there when my son was born 2 months prematurely. After 3 years, I went back to work full-time at different universities in the IT department. I again retired when my middle child was having some substantial health issues with complex surgeries and home care. Basics: I have a new car, I am insured, and have a clean driving record. I love pets. I've done dog rescue for the past 13 years, which included complicated medical and social issues. I love kids. I miss the wonder of watching them learn and discover new things as they develop physically and emotionally. It really does take a village to raise a child, and I'd like to be a positive part of yours. Yes, I can help with the math and science homework. At this point in my life, having experienced many things in being involved in my own children's lives and those of my friends and family, I feel like I can handle just about anything, even teenagers.
