My childcare experience started with babysitting my younger siblings/cousins in high school. For the past two years, I've been doing after school tutoring at a local community center, helping kids with their homework and hosting an art class. In my spare time I love to hike, read, practice woodworking, and cook. These hobbies directly tie into my approach with childcare, emphasizing plenty of time outside, reading, and serving home cooked meals. When babysitting/nannying, I try to engage the kids in any task they're comfortable with (i. e. the kids help wash veggies when I prep dinner). My skills include transportation, tutoring, cooking, and making sure to listen to the kids' needs. I want to create an environment where they feel listened to and are always comfortable telling me what's on their mind.
Alex is fantastic with my son — he’s not just watching him, he’s engaged. Whether it’s a Nerf battle, pickleball, or a trip to the skate park, he’s right there having fun and giving his full attention (never on his phone!). He also keeps a great balance between fun and responsibility, helping with homework while still making the time enjoyable. He’s dependable, kind, and genuinely present — we feel lucky to have him.
