I started caring for people with special needs when I was in 5th grade. We had a buddy system where we would play and learn together. I assisted them with assignments and interactions. Eventually, through the years, I learned I also had special needs. My personal experience has been as someone who is higher functioning, and it makes sense why I connected more with people with different abilities. I have provided tutoring and companionship for people with special needs in my recent years.
