About Alexa

Hi! My name is Alexa, I am currently a junior at the College of Staten Island pursuing a degree in Education grades 1-6. I have experience as an Afterschool Counselor, I've tutored high school students in Algebra and English, I've helped many friends and family as well. Growing up I've always loved going to school and learning new things and I grew a passion of teaching. I can help a child from k-12 learn the basic and complex skills of math and English. I m fluent in Spanish as I am Colombian and Puerto Rican. I'm very soft spoken and patient, I allow the students to feel comfortable to learn new things without being afraid to make mistakes. I explain thoroughly and slowly and always ask questions to make sure the student understands the topic. Now that I'm deep into my major and super involved in campus, I've realized that tutoring would be the perfect job for me to work a couple hours a week without feeling overwhelmed.
