Learning is a journey! At 15, I would babysit for my three nephews solo; that taught me patience, trust, and how kids really think. I helped them with reading, math, and problem solving. I hold a chemistry degree (3. 8 GPA) with experience from with AP Chem, AP Bio, AP Calc, and AP Physics. I've tutored chemistry and calc, and study skills for 3 years. I tutor math, science, test prep, and study skills for elementary through college students. I also played piano since age 5 and can read music. I adapt to each student by listening closely and connecting lessons to their interests, whether that's video games, sports, or music. I also keep parents in the loop so everyone feels supported. The best part? Watching a student's confidence bloom when they finally say "I get it!" On a personal note, I have two cats and I'm great with animals.

Akeena did such a great job making my kid comfortable. She related to her and made math tutoring more conversational and like it was the two of them tackling the problems together but in such a way that my kid could still do the problems for tests at school without Akeena. I would most definitely hire her again. I don’t have the percent of increase of my kid’s score but it did go from failing to passing in a matter of weeks! Thanks Akeena!
