About Abigail

Hi I'm Abby! I've been working with kids since I was 15. I started as a babysitter in Brooklyn heights and Dumbo, and then as an art teacher at a YMCA camp. As someone who has been creative early on, I remember babysitters I've had that allowed and inspired me to draw, color, write, etc. I'm still very close with my own babysitter, and recognize the importance she has played in my own life, and I think I go about a lot of how I work with kids similarly. Such as leading with respect, understanding, and a very calm and caring demeanor. I recognize the importance of communication, using our words, and expressing our feelings. I encourage creating a safe space! Lastly, I remember how nerve wracking it was for my own mom to leave my brother and I with our sitter and all that she did to make the experience wonderful. I really take this to heart, and will do all that's needed for you to feel the same!
