Looking for a kind, patient, and experienced math tutor to support our 8-year-old son, who is currently in 3rd grade and needs extra help building confidence and skills in math. Tutoring would take place in home or local library. Areas of Focus: Addition Strategies: Doubles/Near Doubles, Count On Number Sense: Odd/Even patterns, understanding sum patterns Equations & Models: Solving for missing numbers, writing equations from visual models Computation: Addition and subtraction within 20-30 using flexible strategies Word Problems (Biggest Challenge): Setting up problems, choosing the correct operation, and explaining reasoning Goal: Help build fluency in addition and subtraction, with a strong emphasis on understanding and solving word problems.
