2nd grade girl that needs to have the basics reinforced so she can catch up. Her teacher in 1st grade was switched out mid-year and the new teacher was very relaxed and didnt give homework and I think she missed out on a lot of the basics and is paying the price now. She gets easily frustrated when she doesnt know something and shuts down when I, her mom, try to explain things to her. I am hoping that a tutor will have the skills to break through to her and allow her to have that aha moment which will give her the confidence to want to learn. I dont want her to hate school or learning and she needs someone that will be able to keep her attention and keep her interested in wanting to learn more while giving her the ability to read and problem solve on her own.
