My son came from a neglectful household where he wasnt going to school at all. When I got custody of him he was 13 and completely illiterate. In almost a year weve gotten him up to reading 4th and 5th grade level books. But he struggles with reading and fluency. His comprehension is very good. But he needs the extra support with literacy so that he can achieve his goals and gain confidence in himself as he navigates structure for the first time. Hes very sweet, very charming, and he is always respectful with his teachers. He would be a great student for a tutor but just needs the extra help.
