My daughter is in second grade and is scoring below grade level in most subjects, so we are trying to help her catch up in reading and math. She may possibly have dyslexia, so she struggles with decoding words, phonics, and blending. She does not have ADHD, but she gets discouraged quickly when she does not understand something or cannot read a word right away. She learns much better in small groups or one on one because large groups make it harder for her to stay focused. Building her confidence is very important and she needs encouragement and a patient, positive approach. In reading she is working on phonics, blending, and foundational DIBELS related skills.
