Rose's Music Lessons (Guitar, Bass Guitar)

    by Taylor Robinson Music

    San Diego, CA

Years of Experience: 18 years Location Options: In Home Travel Radius: 5 Genres: Rock Age Groups: Children, Young Adult, Adult Instruments Taught: Guitar Lessons,Bass Guitar Lessons Overview: Born and raised in the Philippines, Rose, picked up the guitar at age 12 and even though playing keyboard was her first love, the guitar was where she found her passion. Self-taught, she has accumulated various influences ranging from Filipino alternative rock, to NWOBHM, to Blackened-Death Metal. Currently living in Orange County, California, Rose keeps busy working as a licensed nurse by day and by night as a guitarist of Infinite Death (Whittier, CA) and Cowgirls From Hell (All-Female-Pantera-Tribute band from San Diego, CA). October 2012 was when she joined Infinite Death to complete a melodic-two-guitar-attack from what used to be an instrumental trio of guitar-bass-drums. Josh Palomar, guitarist/songwriter of the band, persuaded her to give EMGs a try and upon installing EMG 81 on the bridge of her Jackson RR3, the guitar-duo found their sound at last. Heavily influenced by the Swedish-melodic-death-metal sound, the band was recognized as one of OC Weekly’s 10 Best Underground Metal Bands of 2014 and “continues to showcase haunting live shows” (OC Weekly). Infinite Death has released a demo “Smoked To Death” (2012) and their debut EP “Beyond The Gates” (2013). They are on the cusp of releasing their next EP entitled “The Endless Suffering” out early 2016.

Jt's Music Lessons (Guitar, Song Writing)

    by Taylor Robinson Music

    San Diego, CA

Years of Experience: 11 Location Options: In Home, In Webcam Travel Radius: 10 Instruments Taught: Guitar Lessons,Song Writing Lessons Overview: I started teaching myself guitar 11 years ago, around the same time I began educating myself on science and technology, my other main interests. I now split nearly all of my time between work in artificial intelligence and writing/recording music. Formal Education: I studied business in college and have no formal education in music, a decision I am glad I made. I do believe personal exploration is the best way to learn, though supplemented by lessons can be extremely beneficial or necessary for some people depending on preference and style. I learned theory from books, tips from friends, and deeply studied video of my favorite musicians. Though dependent on what someone wants out of playing music, in general I believe freely following curiosity and pleasure when learning leads to the best outcomes, and this can certainly mean having someone to answer your questions and teach you what you find to be exciting. Private Education: I am mostly self taught (books and videos), with interspersed lessons and tips from more experienced musicians. I always had a unique taste and vision for my music and view music as a highly creative (as opposed to mechanical/rote) process so I preferred to teach myself as much as possible so I could engage creativity as much as possible instead of a structured program. I keep this in mind when I teach others to make sure to understand what they want out of music and to keep it as personalized and fun as possible. Performing Experience: I have played and jammed with multiple musicians and bands in town. My primary focus up to this point has been developing my skills on the guitar and songwriting. Experience Teaching: I've taught multiple people to play guitar over the past 5 years, both from the ground up and people who already have some experience playing.

After picking up his first guitar, he realized that he wanted to take his passion in music to the next level and absorb as much music as possible. He formed a rock band with two of his close friends and finally got the experience of what it was like to play in a band. This caused him to make the decision to study music while going to college since he truly wanted to do something he enjoyed. So, he enrolled in the Bob Cole Conservatory of Music of California State University Long Beach where he majored in a Jazz Performance Guitar degree. While at school, he was receiving guitar lessons from two of the top guitarists in the Los Angeles area, Ron Eschete and Michael Higgins. Along with receiving lessons, he was also giving private lessons to many students while studying at CSULB. While developing his expertise in Jazz, he decided to go back to his roots and put together a blues ensemble with some of his colleagues in the music department. His band is currently gigging regularly under the name “Zo's Crooked Blues Band”. Striving to excel in his music career, he also hopes to help as many students as he can along the way to get them in the same level of focus and dedication that he has to music.
