Beethoven was the most prolific sound that came out of those speakers for me. Grandma would think it was funny when I would wave my arms rhythmically in the air, imagining myself conducting a grand orchestra. Growing up in the 90's, music was already so vast but was still changing. Grunge was in full effect with Nirvana and Soundgarden while not too much later Hip-Hop and RB'esque sounds began to take over Pop mainstream with Tupac and Britney Spears. It was only natural that by 11 years old, I wanted to be a Rock Star. After 2 years of begging 2 uncertain parents, on a Christmas eve in 2004 I got my first electric guitar. From then on I started playing and gigging in bands, grinding my nose against the scene learning hands on about how to be a musician. It was also during this time that I began working in local music shops as a hired hand. I learned how instruments themselves worked and also gained knowledge about Recording and Production equipment. Live Sound, brand names and quality history were at my fingertips. Towards the end of those 10 years, I was working as an assistant manager at Guitar Center. As a musician, I noticed something about my playing that would be every artist's worst nightmare. It all sounded the same. So I sought out help from Lyle Harrison, a guitar teacher who worked at the store and he began to tutor me in theory. Ever since then my perception of understanding music has changed. Knowing how it works and making it malleable enough to create is key to great song writing. My goal is to get you to be able to create music for yourself and the world to enjoy. Bring happiness to those around you through musical artistic expression that's genuine and true to yourself, no matter what the sound. Private Education: Lyle Harrison - Private Theory Tutor Performing Experience: Over 10 years of playing in bands, running live sound, stand ins in both large and small venues Experience Teaching: I taught off and on throughout my tenure working at local Mom and Pop music shops when the actual instructors were not in. Lessons lasted about 30 minutes to an hour
