The Ghosts of Milwaukee & the Haunted Third Ward: Private Tour

    4.3 (4)

    Powered by Viator

    Milwaukee, WI

Join us for a private walking ghost tour of Milwaukee’s haunted historic Third Ward. As the largest city in Wisconsin with an industrial past, it’s no surprise that the city is riddled with spectral stories, which your guide will bring to life for you! In the mid-nineteenth century, the Third Ward was more commonly called the Blood Third, where roving thugs and gangs operated in the streets. It was also home to elegant hotels, prominent businesses, and hard-working families - which made for decades of reputational clashes in the neighbourhood. In 1892, a series of fires swept across the Third Ward and the city, leaving behind eery tales of mediums having predicted the fire, of sabotage and revenge - even stories from the fire chief who was awoken in his dreams by a voice to notify him of fires before the rest of the firehouse knew. Your private spectral tour is two hours and just under two miles, suitable for people of all ages, provided that adults are present with children.

    Water to Westown Walking Tour

    Powered by Viator

    Milwaukee, WI

West of the Milwaukee River, you’ll find the historic arts and entertainment district of Downtown. Today, the area known as Westown includes several theaters and arts venues as well as sports arenas, the Baird Convention Center, and several historic hotels. Also in the district is the multi-block Grand Avenue Mall (1982), now redeveloped into The Avenue (2018) with updated food hall and shopping. This tour will explore the recent transformation of several historic buildings into mixed-use development with apartments, new coffee shops, and gallery spaces, and the reinvigoration of office space. Included on the tour are Milwaukee’s large blue building, the Reuss Federal Plaza, now known as 310W (1983), the historic Hotel Wisconsin (1913), and the Pabst Theater (1895). This walking tour is 1.4 miles in length. We recommend that travelers bring (weather permitting): good walking shoes, water, sunscreen, and/or an umbrella.
