Our Take a Llama to Lunch brings two gentle, wooly llama companions as you trek through the stunning landscapes of Staunton State Park. Your calm hiking buddy will carry all the gear while you soak in sweeping mountain vistas, serene pine forests, and wildflower meadows. Your 3-mile journey winds through the historic cabins of the Staunton’s homestead where your guide will share about Colorado life in the early 1900s. The trail leads through a wildflower-filled meadow where the Ute and Cheyenne lived for thousands of years. You’ll pause at the scenic Davis Ponds for a gourmet picnic lunch featuring fresh wraps, trail snacks, and refreshing drinks. Your experienced guides will share fascinating llama facts and local wildlife knowledge throughout this special experience. Enjoy a unique and fun way to discover the beauty of the Rocky Mountains, close to Denver! Fully Guided We will teach you everything you need to know about llamas! We will help you to feel safe and confident leading your llama. Along the way, your guides will point out wildflowers, as well as special features and stories of the area. Close to Denver Our llama hikes take place within an hour of Denver. This makes the hike easily accessible, yet far enough into the foothills to let you experience all the mountains have to offer. Highly Personalized When you book a hike, you are reserving that hike for your group only. We have a minimum group number of 2 people and a maximum number of 4 in order to provide a personalized trip. We will take 2 llamas with us on the hike, and they will carry our gear. If you have more than 2 people in your group, you will be able to trade off who is leading a llama on the hike. Most children ages 8 and up will be able to lead a llama on their own.
