I've been teaching guitar for twelve years. In my teaching I don't prefer to focus on a certain style of guitar like "blues" or "classical" for example. I prefer instead to focus on becoming a better guitarist overall. I like to simultaneously work on growing in scales and rhythm, and then tie them together with music theory. I'm also a huge proponent of knowing how to apply music theory; I have little interest in knowing something or teaching something that doesn't have practical use.
