As I got into performing groups at school and later on, professionally, I found that being a good player and contributing to the sounds of a great group was a real emotional thrill!! It all started with mastering technique and timing as well as being able to add personal touches to the music being performed. I play electric and upright bass Performing Experience: Here in the Houston metro area. I've played Bass with a group called the Phat Cats for 13 years, mostly at Pappadeaux in The Woodlands where we are pretty much the house band. We play all styles including Jazz, RB, Soul, Rock and Country. I'm also the Bass player for the praise band at First Presbyterian Church of Conroe, so I'm pretty well versed in Contemporary Christian Music. i also have played with The Classix, led by Michael Aguilar of 'La Mafia' fame and songwriter/guitarist Michael Flores. I also played with John Carney and Phil Marquez, and subbed for the bass player that Jaime Casco uses. In Ohio, where I'm from, I played Bass and Tuba. Bass in a number of copy bands as well as several 'original' artists and I played on several recordings for them in many different styles. In 'Big Band Jazz' I played with the Jimmy Dorsey Band as well as the Baldwin-Wallace Jazz Ensemble and Alumni Band and an area band leader Harry Hershey and another. Don Turoso. On Tuba, I played with The Guy Lombardo Orchestra under the direction of Teddy Phillips (after Guy had passed). I also played bass with them. I also played Tuba for the Cleveland Chamber Symphony and Ohio Chamber Orchestra as well as the Akron Symphony, Canton Symphony and Mansfield Symphony as a sub for their regular players. I did play for The Moody Blues on one of their tour dates at Blossom Music Center as well as Lorrie Morgan for one of her Christmas tours on her Cleveland stop. Experience Teaching: I've taught band at all age levels. In Conroe at Cryar Intermediate I taught 5th and 6th graders for 14 years. Prior to that in Ohio I taught grades 5-12 for 16 years, including beginners, junior high, high school Concert Band, Marching Band and Jazz Ensemble. While the Band Graduate Assistant at the University of Akron, I conducted the third Concert band as well as writing drill, arranging music and instructing the University of Akron Marching Band.
