Posting Jobs for Nanny's
By Jennifer C. on Mon Jul 30, 2012 at 2:44 PM EDT
I am finding it a regular occurance that once I post my job posting for my Nanny position and the salary range, the job seekers get their foot in the door and then immediately act like the advertised salary was higher. Recently I was setting up a job interview and the day of the interview, after I had changed my schedule around the Nanny wanted to know what the "$10 an hour starting pay meant". Exactly what it states, that is what you are starting at. What is difficult to understand? I stated in my return e-mail that was willing to discuss her concerns. However, the job seeker wrote back with a $16+ an hour. What the?? That is over $216 a week difference. If I could afford $16 an hour. I might have advertised something closer to that. Good grief! That is a few thousand less than what I am making and I have a masters in counseling. I don't think some of these students actually recognize that many of us have no choice in using nanny services. My whole paycheck plus some of my husbands goes to daycare and Nanny costs. Why continue working? cause when the kids go to school in a couple years, it will be close to impossible to get my job back. It's hard when some of these job seekers try to raise the salary stakes that you specifically have posted that you are looking for.
