Nanny disappears without a single word and then reappears just to get paid
By Prerna S. on Tue Nov 6, 2018 at 5:22 PM EST
I had a nanny for three months for my two toddlers, and one day she just didn't show up. No call, no email text nothing. Then I call her and her phone is blocking messages and not receiving calls. This happened on thursday when she usually comes in Monday, Tues and Thurs. After FIVE days- on the next Monday, after I had to scramble around to find daycare and just deal with my emotions about what happened, she reappears on Monday and says she lost her phone, and can she come back to work.
I tell her I would think about it, and then next day i get a message on Care.com asking for payment for the other two days she worked without any call or nothing.
I called her and tell her she can come back but I cannot pay her for those two days since we had to go through all the inconvenience of finding alternate daycare, AND putting a $1000 deposit down for the daycare, all to compensate for her 'disappearance'.
Now she is claiming to take ME to the Department of Labor. I cannot believe this and I am so hurt someone can be so callous and shameless? is there anything i can do to report her. I also got her from Care.com
