Looking for a part-time support for my fun 17 year old son who is a wheelchair user

by Jonathan • Lambeth
This part-time job, based in Streatham in South London would suit someone young, fun and energetic with lots of enthusiasm! My son (17) is a wheelchair user and needs someone to help support him with day to day needs and activities, both in the mornings and evenings (when he is not at college) with cooking tea, walking his Labrador, playing on the computer (he uses garage band and logic pro to write music) and other tasks including support with a bit of homework, stretching exercises and some personal care including getting dressed in the morning and going to bed at night. He has a couple of personal assistants that help him, and one of them is leaving at the beginning of March so we need someone to replace her.  There is some flexibility with these hours and days for the right candidate, as the personal assistants tend to work flexibly and as a team. There are also additional hours available at half-term and in Christmas/Easter and Summer holidays. The successful applicant should be able to start at the beginning of March, have a very positive approach to disability and an inclusive approach to life, be proactive and outgoing and good at taking initiative. They should also be looking to do the job for a significant period, not just for a few months.
