For 18 years, Care.com has helped caregivers find meaningful work and build lasting relationships with families who need their help. We’re committed to continuing our mission to help connect caregivers and families— now with an even greater focus on meeting your needs. 

Today, we’re reintroducing Care.com—with a fresh new look, upgraded features and a renewed commitment to making your experience better.

But this isn’t just a new look. It’s a new promise—starting with a new pledge to our members

Underlying this new pledge is a deeper commitment to not only listening more, but acting on our members’ feedback. Here are a few ways in which we’re acting upon this pledge, starting today.

Better messaging, better communication

Messaging

We heard loud and clear from caregivers that our messaging platform needed work. That’s why we have introduced a brand new messaging platform that makes it easier to connect with families for your next job opportunity.

  • Faster and more reliable messaging: Quicker load times and notifications means you’ll never miss a message.
  • Better manage your inbox:
Quickly search conversations and archive those you no longer need.
  • New real-time updates: Read receipts, reactions and typing indicators for smoother, more natural chats.

And we’re not stopping there—video chat and interview tools are coming soon to make connecting even easier.

Smarter matching

Child care search

We’re upgrading families’ search experience to make finding the right match simpler, smarter and more personal. 

  • More filters: We’ve added more ways for families to refine what they are looking for in a caregiver, including filtering by rating and years of experience. Caregivers with 4+ reviews are more than 3 times more likely to be contacted by families—so make sure you show up by adding reviews.
  • AI powered search: Families can now search in their own words for what’s important to them. Great at arts and crafts? A wizard at meal prep? Expert swimmer? Make sure you add it to your bio so families can find you.

Better job search tools

Profile

We are also rolling out new tools to help make your job search easier and faster. 

  • AI bios: You can now build a profile that showcases your skills with the help of AI, so families get more detailed profiles to make better hiring decisions. Available on Android for childcare—iOS and other care types coming soon!
  • More availability control: You can now better control if you are open to work by choosing whether you are accepting new jobs or not. We also have plans to revamp availability in the coming months so you are better matched to jobs that fit your schedule.

Introducing CareProtect™

Whether you are looking for a full-time job or part-time work, safety comes first. That’s why we’re introducing our improved safety program—CareProtect. With CareProtect, you’ll get even more tools and resources to help make your job search safer. 

  • Improved platform monitoring: We are using technology to continually monitor our platform—now with improved ways to catch fraud and remove bad actors.
  • Expanded 24/7 safety hotline: We have expanded hours of our dedicated phone line to help better address any safety concerns and questions.
  • A new Safety Center: You can now get more safety tools, education and resources to help you have a safer job search—available in a revamped Safety Center.

We have also made some changes to background checks as part of our updated safety program, including new names for the checks we use and additional options for families. 

  • CareCheck is now Care.com Background Check: This is just a name change. It doesn’t change what’s included in your required background check or how often you need to renew it.
  • Continuous Background Checks: Families now have the option to use always-on monitoring and get notified of newly reportable criminal activity for a caregiver they have hired. You may get requests to participate in this check, and will need to opt-in before families can access your records—learn more here.
