$1.5 million paid for world's most expensive dog: http://today.msnbc.msn.com/id/42128943/ns/today-today_pets_and_animals/
My favorite part: "Raised on a diet of beef, chicken, abalone and sea cucumber, 'he is a perfect specimen.'"

Is it ever okay to pay this much for a dog - even an adorable fluffy "perfect specimen?"

at 2:11 PM EDT Omg no!
Don't get me wrong, I love love love dogs, but a) that money could have been put to much better use and b) there are so many lovely, wonderful dogs out there without a home that are FREE to adopt! Instead of spending our money on "the perfect specimen" of a dog, why don't we focus our attention on the less than "perfect" but equally lovable dogs that aren't receiving such special treatment.

at 1:32 PM EDT Plus, who's ever heard of feeding abalone and sea cucumber to a dog??? Maybe we should take some foie gras or oysters down to the local shelter . . . ridiculous!
I will admit that I sometimes feed my dogs chicken and rice, but that's good for them and not extravagant.

@Sarah S.: I completely agree with you. Have you ever tried to volunteer for a local shelter? The ones around my house are actually really hard to volunteer for. They require a certain number of house that I just can't commit to with a full-time job and a family.
