Hello, I am a dyslexic occupational therapist looking to help simplify and explain concepts that can be very overwhelming! I offer movement based tutoring sessions (walking, playing sport, doing craft/activity), seeing as movement/play is excellent for students with hyper activity or attention difficulties! I've worked one-on-one with students seeking assistance in a multiple of learning areas. I'm a native Spanish speaker that has worked with students aged 7-13. I am capable of creating lessons for K-12 students in reading, writing and vocabulary. As well as assisted with homework and other class assignments!

I've been tutoring for two years with a focus on algebra, algebra II, geometry, and pre-calculus, as well as English, especially composition and reading comprehension. I have a lot of experience with elementary-age students having trouble with reading or basic numeracy, as well as middle and high school students struggling with advanced math concepts. I graduated my high school with high honors. I was a member of the NHS and an AP student. I scored a 2190 on my SAT's, and am also willing to help with SAT prep. I have my own materials.

During high school, I excelled in math and ELA. Grades are very important to me and I love having the chance to help other students succeed. I've only taken one math class in college but I do very well in Algebra.

I have been in the childcare field for 8 years with a vast range of experiences in several different socioeconomic locations. I currently am graduated with a bachelors degree in elementary education and psychology. My current focus is working with children on the autism spectrum from ages 5-13 in the school, clinic, and home settings. I am open to working with all students in need! I am very flexible with accommodations & support with everything and anything! I have many strengths in teaching writing, reading, math, science, and history. I can provide any materials such as manipulatives and home made study guides. I will provide your child with all materials needed to be successful through their learning process!

To illustrate my skills, I would like to begin by telling a story. I worked at a middle school as a one on one teaching assistant with a special needs student. This student's main difficultly was in writing class. She was intelligent with a high level of vocabulary, but difficulty with organizing and expressing ideas in writing and a low level of tolerance frustration. To build confidence that she could complete the writing assignment and express herself, I began by having her verbally brain storm ideas that she wanted to include and took note of them. Then I always broke down the task for her, to minimize frustration. At the beginning, we only concentrated on writing one sentence at a time. As she got more proficient and the assignments got longer, we began to focus on writing whole paragraphs. We always took note and celebrated even small successes to build confidence. I had to be flexible making adjustments everyday, depending on the kind of day the student was having. On some days, I had to be very directive and continuously redirected the student back the assignment. On other days, I let her be more independent as she began to demonstrate knowledge of how an essay should be structured, and as she become more self directed. During the several months that we worked together, she developed an understanding of the structure of a paragraph and then of the structure of a five paragraph essay. She gained confidence in her ability to write and her level of frustration decreased. This story demonstrates my strengths as a tutor. I take time to get to know my students, their strengths and weaknesses. I am flexible and adjust for their needs on a daily basis. I am patient, persistent, positive and encouraging. I have the skill and knowledge to be able to adjust assignments to the skill level of the student and then to scaffold the student's understanding to help him/her reach up to the next level.

I recently graduated from Worcester State University in May 2023, with a degree in both Elementary Education and Psychology. I graduated with a 3. 6 GPA, having earned Dean's List spring semester of 2020 until I graduated. In addition to this, I was also part of the National Society Of Collegiate Scholars and the Kappa Delta Pi Honors Society. My final semester of college for 4 months I student taught at a local elementary school, in a third grade classroom. Since graduating from WSU I have acquired a teaching license in Massachusetts to teach grades first through sixth, and have experience working with these grades and their curriculum. While attending college for the past 4 years I have also been working as a Behavioral Therapist for children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. I thoroughly enjoy working with children of all ages, especially elementary aged children (6-12 years old). I also have previous work experience working at a preschool, daycare, and after-school program.

I am a senior in Elementary Education at Worcester State University, completing my bachelor's degree and preparing for my student teaching practicum next semester. I have passed all Massachusetts Licensure Tests for teaching and bring three years of experience as a substitute teacher. In addition, I've worked for the past three summers as a paraprofessional in special education summer programs.
