We're looking for someone who has experience working with and motivating kids. If you can try to make math and reading fun for the kids it would be awesome! I have two daughters, one finishing up 2cd grade and one finishing up 3rd grade. I work with them from time to time and find it to help them a lot but I work in consulting and struggle to keep a consistent schedule with them. They are easy to get along with and having a tutor who they look up to and is not family would help keep their attention. Math -- The older girl struggles with math at school but when I take the time to work with her at home she is able to understand things. I think she struggles to focus during class instruction. She needs particular help with figuring out if she should add or subtract when reading word problems. I would also love for her to gain a strong conceptual understanding of multiplication/division/fractions and how they relate to each other. Familiarity with multiplication/division facts as well as speed with her addition/subtraction facts. She tests below grade level in math and so confidence is a concern of mine. Exposing her to higher level concepts could be good for her. The younger girl tests at or above grade level. Her main problem is that she rushes through and tries to skip to the answer. I would love for her to get exposed to 3rd grade concepts and get super fast with her addition/subtraction facts and get started on multiplication to set her up for success next year. Reading -- They both struggle with reading in that they do not have the attention span for it. Their time with reading could be split into reading short passages and answering questions about it and working their way through a chapter book. Ideally tutoring would be at our home with the girls taking turns. Maybe 1hr each with math one day and reading another day.

I have two children in the 7th grade (upcoming) that have been homeschooled up to this point. I'm not impressed with the local public school, so I need someone to teach them.

Help with some numbers and geometry

I have a hard time focusing so a good retention will suffice. I have a hairpulling disorder so a refocus or to stop for a verbal comment is excellent.

Life tutor, helping learning life skills and good manners

My wife and I are looking for a babysitter/tutor to help our 8-year-old daughter build skills and confidence in math and reading this summer, and give her time to relax, too! 2-3 days per week, about 4:00-6:30 p.m. (flexible). We can provide workbooks/materials for learning. She'd need to be picked up from her nearby summer camp (5 min away), brought to our house, helped with reading/math practice and supplemental learning, and then just hang out! We also ask that you take our dog for a short walk if it isn't raining. (He's very friendly.) We arrive home with our 2-year-old around 6:15 p.m. most evenings. Schedules may vary slightly when we take vacations (or if you need to). There's a possibility of continuing once the school year starts, if you're interested.
