Liberty University - Special Needs

I have experience working with Special Needs High School students (2015-2019). I have taken them to specials such as art and PE, I have sat and monitored them during lunch, I have helped them with their annual play they put on every year for the school, I have helped them with their reading and assignments worked on in class, etc. I graduated high school with a Gold medal for helping and serving in our special needs program. I was able to help and console many children while they were experiencing episodes as well. I also was an Infant teacher at Quantico Marine Base where I took care of two children who had physical and mental disabilities - this included feeding them through a feeding tube.

Hello! My name is Kate. I am a mother myself! I have worked with children for several years. I am CPR/First Aid Certified and also a CNA working towards my Psychology degree. I have worked with children as a nanny, in a child care center, and also in a Sunday School setting. I also have experience with special needs for multiple years and really enjoy watching these children progress. I would love to work with you and your family and learn more about you & your children.

I love helping others and caring for people in various life circumstances. I have been a care provider for people of all ages with special needs, including across the autistic spectrum, among other needs. I have 5 years of experience working with individuals as a caregiver, including feeding, driving, exercise (incl wheelchair), bathing, etc. I can lift up to 100 pounds of another's bodyweight.

For the most part of my life, I have been involved with caring for my sister who is special need. She has a physical disability. I love being able to help kids meet their full potential and experience and do things they believe they can't do because of how they are.

As someone with a lifelong passion for helping others, I have always thrived in going above and beyond to help anyone. I thoroughly enjoy sharing my love of learning and caring with people, which has allowed me to gain valuable skills including patience and a strong work ethic. I am excited about the possibility of sharing my talents and ideas with your Family. Not only am I flexible and adaptable, but I also have a very strong work ethic. I pride myself on my punctuality, and I always fulfill any duties asked of me to the best of my ability. I'm also a team player who enjoys working alongside other colleagues. I also have experience performing Nursing Assistant duties, including feeding, grooming and bathing patients while helping them with their other basic care needs. My compassion for patients or students, along with my ability to communicate well with them, has always made me an asset in the workplace.

I have worked with special needs children and adults for over 16 years.

I have more than 20 years of experience. Until 3 yrs ago I was a highly decorated patient care assistant, working for one of the major hospitals in Texas. Now I am more on the therapy side of things , working with ASD children. I can help in a variety of ways... from bathing to teaching life skills. This includes administering medications. My specialty is taking clients out in community to build social skills in a variety of settings.

I started working with all forms of Special Needs Children, more than 10 years ago and it was very rewarding. Since then, my love and compassion have grown. Children with special needs see the world through the eyes and heart of those that are surrounded around them. I want to be one of those person who help them to see, feel and touch the world. I have a Child Development degree.

I have worked with people from the age of 10 to 80 with developmental disabilities for over 10 years. I currently work as an instructor for adult with disabilities. I have a Bachelors Degree in Human Services/ Management and a Masters Degree in Public Policy/Public Administration. I have worked at a State Training Center with adults; in a public school setting with children; and with people living independently. I can provide meal preparation, light housekeeping, and local transportation.

All of my life, I have had the joy and privilege of having friends and working with individuals who have been both blessed and challenged by physical/mental disabilities. My appreciation for those with special needs was developed early on by my Mother, who minored in and taught Special Ed in school, and then also by my childhood friend who has Downs Syndrome and another dear friend I grew up with who was severely crippled in a car accident. In 2006, I pursued training to become a Habilitation Technician in Charlotte, NC and began my professional career as a respite care provider and one-on-one worker with disabled individuals.
