About who needs care: My Dad, Arthur, had a hemorrhagic stroke on August 11, 2025. He is going home on November 7. My Mom, Pia, is his sole caregiver, and I will be there to help as well. He will be receiving in home therapy sessions, but we are looking for the right person to help supplement his care. He is able to speak, eat, and drink, but has difficulty standing up, and has left-sided weakness, including a nearly paralyzed left arm.
I am looking for someone to spend time with him, get him snacks/beverages, turn on/off music, adjust temperature in his room, and help him in and out of the bathroom. This position will also include helping him get dressed, undressed, general grooming like brushing teeth and washing his face, trimming nails, and bathing. He can assist with most of these tasks, such as brushing his teeth.
He is 71 years old, and such a fun person to be around. Arthur has an upbeat attitude, a wicked sense of humor, and a great outlook on life. He loves music, his family, building and fixing things, tinkering around, the gym/exercise, and travel. He has been all over the world!
My parents have two cats, for those inquiring.
Attitude is everything, so I am hoping to find a lively, caring individual with positive energy. Thank you so much for considering helping my family during this difficult time!
About the care needs: My ideal caregiver would be punctual, reliable, patient, motivational, upbeat, friendly, knowledgeable, and with a good sense of humor! Dad is 6 foot 1, and 185 pounds, so looking for a strong individual as well who can assist with transfers.
Please, no cigarette smokers and no heavy perfume/fragrance.
I am looking for someone who has experience with people who have had traumatic brain injuries or a stroke.
Specific hobbies or interests that he could relate to might involve cars, travel, the love for building/fixing/home remodeling, family, food, finding joy in life, and laughing often!!
Services needed include: companionship, feeding, bathing / dressing, and mobility assistance.
