About the job

The purpose of the Preschool Teacher is to plan and guide a stimulating and effective developmental learning program for preschool aged children, subject to the policies and procedures set by the Director and the Owner, by: 1. Creating an environment that will nurture the trust, security and happiness of each child. 2. Providing a program conducive to the optimum emotional, academic, language, physical and social development of all children. This position reports to and is supervised by the Director and will perform additional duties required by the Director and/or Assistant Director. A. PERSONAL QUALIFICATIONS: Lead Teachers are expected to be mature, responsible, healthy adults who have good rapport with children & adults. They must have the ability to understand and accept individual differences in children and in all persons with whom they will be working. Their personalities should reflect integrity, warmth, humor, sincerity, and flexibility. All staff must comply with all Personnel Policies, as well as all Licensing and Accreditation regulations and criteria. III. DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES A. CLASSROOM a. Be available to work opening or closing shift between hrs of 7:30am to 4:30pm b. Conduct the daily teaching program as outlined by the Director and Preschool Philosophy. c. Implement the Kids Ave philosophy in the development of curriculum to meet the needs of individual children. d. Share special skills (storytelling, music, movement, puppets, circle time sing aloud....) for the benefit of children in all classrooms. e. Develop and maintain an adequate personal file of teaching tools to enrich all areas of curriculum. f. Maintain adequate supervision of children at all times. g. Complete written observation reports on each child and conduct any necessary conferences with parents. h. Attend meetings and training sessions listed in personnel Policies. i. Leave classrooms and yards in readiness for use by other Preschool classes or groups. J. When changing diapers make sure to use gloves at all times. k. Agree to and abide by additional requirements defined in the Kids Ave Enrichment Learning Center Personnel Policies or requested by the Director/Assistant Director. L. Act on your own initiative when perceiving a job that needs to be done to protect the health and safety of children and/or adults or to protect the property of the school. B. PARENTS a. Communicate and interact with parents toward the goal of understanding and supporting the development of children. b. Encourage parent participation in school activities. c. Utilize Brightwheel App to communicate with Parents for daily activities. C. RECORDS a. Maintain records of significant observations of incidents and experiences for use in evaluating each child's progress. b. Post classroom schedules and lesson plans. c. Prepare and notify parents of classroom nutrition schedules and reminders. d. Send home all notices/ insure parents are getting their information through the Brightwheel App. e. Maintain classroom records, including class list, allergy information, schedule, favorite classroom activities, suggestions, current lesson plan, etc. D. SAFETY a. Maintain current certification in First Aid and CPR b. Maintain updated Mandated Reporter Training every two years c. Maintain updated Health Records as required from KAELC
