Position Overview: The daycare Teacher is responsible for creating a safe, nurturing, and educational environment for young children within their own home. This role involves designing and implementing an age-appropriate curriculum, fostering social and cognitive development, ensuring the well-being of the children, and maintaining effective communication with parents or guardians. The In-Home Daycare Teacher plays a vital role in shaping the children's early learning experiences under their care. Key Responsibilities: Curriculum Development: Develop and implement age-appropriate lesson plans and activities that promote cognitive, physical, social, and emotional development. Create a well-rounded curriculum that includes play-based learning, arts and crafts, storytelling, music, and other engaging activities. Child Care and Supervision: Provide children with a safe and secure environment, maintaining constant supervision and ensuring their physical well-being. Assist children with daily routines, including feeding, napping, diapering, and toileting. Encourage positive behavior and enforce appropriate discipline when necessary, following established guidelines. Early Childhood Education: Foster early learning by facilitating activities that enhance language, numeracy, motor skills, and problem-solving abilities. Read stories, engage in conversations, and encourage hands-on exploration to stimulate cognitive development. Social and Emotional Development: Promote social skills through group play, sharing, and cooperation, helping children build relationships with peers. Provide emotional support, comfort, and encouragement to help children develop self-confidence and emotional resilience. Communication: Establish open and effective communication with parents or guardians, providing regular updates on their child's progress and activities. Address any concerns, questions, or feedback from parents professionally and empathetically. Attend all staff meetings, in-service training, set up/clean up days, and team planning meetings. Safety and Hygiene: Report everything on time, including incident reports, curriculum, accident reports, and any additional reports required by the director. Disinfect all toys, baby chairs, tables, baby seats, etc., before the conclusion of the shift. Maintaining a clean and hygienic environment ensures that all toys, materials, and surfaces are regularly sanitized. Follow health and safety guidelines, including administering basic first aid when needed. Documentation: Maintain accurate records of children's progress, including observations, developmental milestones, and any incidents. Prepare reports or assessments for parents or guardians as required. Professional Development: Stay updated on current trends and research in early childhood education through continuous learning and professional development opportunities. Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent, associate's or bachelor's degree in early childhood education or related field preferred. Prior experience working with young children in a daycare, preschool, or educational setting. Knowledge of child development principles, behavior management, and age-appropriate activities. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with children and parents. First aid and CPR certification, or willingness to obtain these certifications. Ability to create a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment within a home setting. Working Conditions: The In-Home Daycare Teacher operates within their own home, providing childcare services to a small group of children. The role requires flexibility in work hours to accommodate children's schedules, and it may involve physically demanding tasks such as lifting, bending, and kneeling.
