Our son went to Sandmann for about 2 years and absolutely loved it! Great teachers, very attentive and caring. In 2 years there were no accidents. During COVID they had no cases. Great food! Lots of activities. We were sad to leave but it was time to start pre school

Our daughter attended Sandmann Daycare for around a year (she joined when she was just over 15 months old) and we have only great things to say about it: The Sandmann Daycare is run by a very friendly, caring and relaxed German couple with lots of experience, who provide a safe and fun environment. The ratio of teachers to kids is fantastic (around 1:3) and all of the teachers really care about the kids and their wellbeing. The house is spacious, has a large indoor area with plenty of toys, books, instruments, couches & mattresses for play etc. and has a nice garden with plenty of outdoor activities. We really liked that the children of all age groups mix (approx. 1.5 years - 4 years) during many activities. The days usually start with a 'morning circle' where all kids and teachers get together to welcome each other, sing songs, and talk about the upcoming activities. Other daily activities include gymnastics / sports / yoga, lots of outdoor play at the local playground, visits to the library, reading circle and free play. Each month is centered around a special theme (e.g. beach life, animals on a farm, etc.) and the children do art projects and read stories that fit to the topic. The food is excellent, all children eat together in the large kitchen area during lunch and several heathy snacks are provided as well. We saw our daughter flourish in this playful and educational environment. She loved going there every day and we were incredibly sad to leave Sandmann due to our move back to Europe. All in all, we can warmly recommend Sandmann daycare and all the wonderful staff and children.

Our daughter has been in Sandmann for a year, and we have absolutely loved every single day. She goes to school and cannot wait to wave to me from the window so she can go and play with her friends.

For us, it was important that she is a safe and loving environment, and that is is outdoors as much as possible. Sandmann team takes out the kids to the local park each morning, and they are outdoors for about 2 hours, running and playing. In the afternoons they spend time in the garden. In the mean time, they eat yummy healthy food and snacks, and enjoy singing songs, reading books, doing art projects and playing with other kids. Once a week they visit the local library, and will even do a local outing occasionally.

While we are not German speakers ourselves, we love that our daughter is exposed to another language and culture.

The owners of the daycare are warm and loving people, and they truly care about each kid. They are easy to communicate with, and I feel my daughter is in great hands when I leave her in their care. I would highly recommend Sandmann!

When our daughter turned 18 months old, we were looking for a neighborhood daycare to provide local care, and after visiting a few other daycare providers, we fell in love with Sandmann Family Day Care. Upon our initial visit, we were impressed with the use of space, which was clean and professional, and also had the "feel" we were looking for: warmth, care, joy and full of arts and crafts activities. When we came back to fill out paperwork, we brought our daughter and we immediately knew we had made the right decision based on the ease and comfort with which she interacted with the owners as well as the owner's young children. Literally, she felt at home.

Throughout the time our daughter was at Sandmann, she grew as a more independent person and her language skills (in both English and German) improved greatly. She would teach us songs she learned at Sandmann, and we credit Sandmann with her independence -- from being able to take off and put on her own shoes, to feeding herself food. When away from Sandmann, she often spoke of the other students and teachers with excitement and enthusiasm. She looked forward to returning to Sandmann every Monday morning, and one of the best feelings as a parent is to confidently know you are dropping off and picking up a happy child.

As parents, we were thrilled with the ease of communication via emails and texts. We always felt well informed, and upon pick up it was easy to see via the notice board what our daughter ate and drank during the day, as well as her routine and sleep breaks. We could not have been happier with our time spent at Sandmann and give it the highest recommendation! Sandmann provided our daughter with social, emotional and academic tools that have been priceless for her foundational years.

We can't say enough great things about Sandmann, we truly believe it is the best daycare in SF! The owners and caretakers create such a warm and loving environment. The days are filled with lots of fun and creative activities: music, arts & crafts, trips to the library and story time, plenty of outdoor play in the garden and nearby playground. Our daughter looked forward to going every morning and would come home beaming from the day's adventures. We are very grateful for the wonderful experience our daughter had at Sandmann and highly recommend it to other parents in SF.

Our eldest son attended Sandmann for nearly two years, and it was the best experience we've had with any of our children at a day care to date. We moved south and traveling there is impractical for us now, but we would have put all our children in Sandmann as long as possible if we could have.
