my solution for it not costing an arm & a lleg

We hired a full time sitter for our daughter, we pay her 250.00 cash per week. she works 7:30-4:30 monday thru friday. We both work out of the home fulltime. Here's the caveat---she is able to bring her son that is 3 yrs. old with her to work, which I do not mind--matter of fact, it helped the cost to be kept down. Also, any day that I am off of work (example: columbus day or new years day etc). She is paid. I also include 3 weeks paid vacation. that includes 1 week that she MUST take when I take mine. the other two are at her discretion. It's worked out very well. It isn't perfect--nothing in life is. but, it works for us.

That is a great idea! I am needing someone to watch my 2.5 month old while I go to work. I'm a single mom so I cannot break the bank with having a nanny. Where did you find this person? 250 a week in cash is very affordable for me!

I had a nanny and she had her two kids at the house. This initially was not an issue for me but then I realized that she paid more attention to her two children then she did to mine, so you have to be careful about that situation. Obviously it is not a reflection of every nanny in that situation, just her, but you should be cognizant of the possibility that will happen. She eventually quit without a phone call or a by-you-leave, so it is obviously more of a reflection on her than on that type of situation.

i agree..every situation is different. we've had Jess for over 3 months..so far, pretty good. I feel confident and glad to have her around. Her child plays well with my daughter and for us, communication is key. we text and we touch base every couple hours just to make sure all is well. We also bring up "sticky" situations--like paid time off, sick days. our sitter is getting married this coming summer, so--we've already discussed what time she'll need off and how much she will be paid. I'm hoping our lines of communication continue to be strong. As for the pay--we pay her 250.00 cash per week and like I said, it works for us
