If you travel, have school age kids
By Erin P. on Sun Feb 12, 2017 at 3:58 PM EST
Do you pay the sitter while the kids are in school? I usually pay my sitters15-20 depending on activities etc but going on a trip during school and thinking it's fair to pay the time she is with them? And overnight while sleeping 7-8/hr?
Would love any advice bc we are flying blind

So it depends if you have a nanny or an actual babysitter...for a babysitter -she should only be paid for the hours she's actually watching the children. If the children are in school, then no-she watches and gets paid when they are home only. As for night time, it varies...talk to your sitters-some will agree on a lower rate of pay when they are sleeping, others want the standard 10 bucks an hour. As for a nanny, she gets paid (well how we did it) monthly-so you set a monthly amount to pay her each month and stick to it...Whether it's $900/month or $1500/month--we've paid both-the lower for when we provided them a car and gas and paid their insurance to keep the car. Nannies get paid whether the children are in school or not and whether their sleeping or not.
Hope this helps you! God Bless.
