We are looking for someone to help with the care of our disabled son in the weekdays after school. About 4 hours per day. Duties include helping to toilet and shower him, assisting him to walk to/from toilet, helping him to walk outside with walking frame and taking him for walk in his wheelchair around the village. Helping him to eat his evening meal and supervise him whilst he is drinking. There is also possibility of more hours to help during the school holidays. Shift hours can be flexible to suit the right carer. Own transport would be advantageous but not essential. Good rate of pay on offer for PAYE. Parents of the client are looking for support during the school holidays and weekends in particular. This would include personal care, supervision and domestic jobs such as minor household chores, as well as fun activities which may include initiating creative play and different light exercises. You would need to have extremely high standards of care and responsibility. Previous experience working with physically disabled children would be a distinct advantage. Responsible to: Directly accountable to and taking direction from the parents. Main Tasks The support can vary from support during the school holidays and weekends. Tasks would include: • Initiating creative play, reading • Toileting and personal cares • Assisting with dressing • Taking out for walks in wheelchair • Supervising mealtimes Person Specification: Essential to be trustworthy, reliable, punctual, friendly, outgoing and respectful of his dignity at all times. Candidate must possess lots of common sense, be a good communicator and be willing to undertake some training. A full clean driving license is essential if taking out in car. Good sense of humour and flexibility is a plus, as is, of course, experience working with a disabled person. Client is a 19-year-old young motivated lady who has mild cerebral palsy, is wheelchair dependant and requires support with transferring, personal care and other aspects of her daily life. We are looking for good calibre persons to join out team on a part time basis to support our client in her daily living and work towards her independence. The personal assistant should also be able to enable the client to undertake social and leisure activities including going to the gym, support with home exercise program set up by the physiotherapist, shopping, cinema and going to concerts. The personal assistant will work within the family home therefore an ability to work flexibly and communicate clearly are essential. Our client is also due to start college in September 2018 and may also require support with activities such as scribing for her. This will be an incredible opportunity to work alongside a charismatic young lady with drive for her independence. This role requires some flexibility as there maybe events the client would like to attend might occasionally be out of the normal working hours. Essential Requirements Relevant experience in working with clients with additional needs, especially relating to the key goals of the role, as outlined. Available for a variety of shifts throughout the week including some weekend shifts. Responsible, trustworthy and very reliable. Genuine caring, sensitive and patient profile. Ability to learn and follow training and assessment. Confident, creative and independent, in assisting in researching and planning activities. Desire to take part in activities with the client. Good communicator. Working hours: A Minimum of 25 Hours per week, flexibility required depending on activities planned, this will include weekend support. Our client seeks someone who is well organised and flexible. Rates of pay £12 per hour Monday-Friday, £14 per hour Saturday/Sunday All posts are subject to DBS Enhanced Disclosure.
