Welcome to Home Away with Hillary!
My name is Hillary and I run a small-ratio, infant and toddler in home daycare permitted through Fairfax County. I have over 10 years of experience in childcare including certifications from the American Red Cross in First Aid and CPR. My passion is working with children to ensure they receive the same quality of care and amount of love and attention they would get from their parents or guardians at home.
I am located in a quiet, friendly neighborhood in Fairfax, close to Burke and Fairfax Station. I am steps from the Burke VRE and minutes away from Braddock Road, Fairfax County Parkway and the major NOVA freeways. My home is on one level (no stairs) and has a spacious play area filled with natural light and a large backyard.
I have designed both an infant and a toddler program with developmentally appropriate activities, games, music, art, building, and exploring through structured play and free play.We go outside daily, weather permitting.
I work with children ages 3 months to 4 years from all backgrounds and ability levels to ensure their needs are being met and everyone is happy and healthy.
I follow a USDA based food plan including snacks and freshly prepared hot meals for breakfast and lunch.
My home is filled with love, laughter, and lots of play! I have fantastic references I can provide upon request. I look forward to getting to know both you and your children!

We were very fortunate to have Hillary care for our children collectively for about three years. During this time she provided outstanding care for our boys. Her demeanor is warm, calming, and consistent. My children adore her and would light up when they saw her each morning. She was in tune to developmental milestones and planned fantastic activities accordingly. Even with a roomful of toddlers, things always seemed organized and purposeful - I often told her she had a magic touch! She also planned and prepared healthy meals and snacks, and was so organized and reliable - she does it all!
In addition to being amazing with children, Hillary is professional and communicative with parents and responsive to questions. We always felt she had the best interests of our children at the forefront. We had peace of mind when they were in her care and wholeheartedly recommend her.

We've been lucky enough to have Hillary as a childcare provider since my oldest son was only 4 months old (he's now 2.5 years old). She is a caring and passionate caregiver as well as a savvy and organized businesswoman.
Hillary's in-home daycare is warm, welcoming, loving, positive, clean and organized. She always puts the needs of the kids first and foremost, and she takes care of them as if they were her own.
Hillary has designed an infant and toddler schedule/program to maximize both learning and imaginative play. Although the kids follow a schedule, Hillary also works tirelessly to ensure the individual needs of each child are met.
Hillary is also a great communicator with parents and I'm always kept "in the loop" about what's going on each day with my kiddos.
In summary, Hillary simply has a way with children. My kids light up whenever they see her, and they even ask about her on weekends when we're not at daycare. Every member of my family feels so blessed to have her in our lives.

It's hard to put into words how lucky we feel to have had Hillary as apart of our daughter's life for the past 2 years. Hillary encompasses all the things you wish to have in a daycare provider - she is very hard-working and is always thinking a step ahead on ways to improve the environment and curriculum; she is very loving with each child, making each of them feel special and cared for; and she brings so much joy into their lives, always playing and making them laugh. Our daughter, on many occasions, right after doing something fun or wearing something cute, exclaims "I need to show Hillary!".
Our daughter was in the best hands possible with Hillary, and we are beyond confident that any family lucky enough to find her will feel the same exact way. She has been a blessing to our family and we are forever grateful.
