About the business
Heritage Learning Center is truly McKinney's hidden treasure. In business over 25 years, we are tucked away on a beautiful three-acre campus off Virginia Parkway between Hardin and US 75. Heritage serves children between that ages of 18 months and 5 years in our Preschool Program and 5-12 years in our After School Clubhouse.
Open daily 6:30am-6:30pm, children follow a detailed schedule and curriculum that fully prepares them for a successful kindergarten year. We welcome over 150 after schoolers daily because the Clubhouse is an amazing place to be. Children are assigned one of six classrooms with children that are just their age. Summertime at Heritage is unmatched. Our school-age children travel on over 30 off-campus field trips during their 11 weeks of summer. Although our little guys on campus do not leave our campus for field trips, the fun comes to them through multiple entertainers, events, themed days, and playing in our very own SPRAY WATER PARK! Our moms and dads know that their children will have a very enjoyable summer while they are at work.
What makes us different? So much...
1. We do not offer part time tuition options. For consistency, friends in each classroom see the same faces daily, the same teachers and the same friends. Families are welcome to have their children not attend certain days of the week because family time is important; however, we will not add another child to the class just because a student is gone.
2. Children at Heritage stay in the same class all school year like traditional school. Most preschool models move children up to the next class every six months. Children at Heritage get to stay with their friends and teachers.
3. We do not "fee" our families endlessly. We ask for a one-time registration fee and a yearly supply fee in addition to your regular tuition. That's it. No activity fees or ongoing registration fees.
4. Heritage teachers are loving, facilitate structured classrooms, and are background checked yearly. All are CPR/First Aid certified as well.
5. Our campus amenities provide excitement in a child's day including our indoor playroom, arcade rooms, computer labs, rubber-turfed playgrounds, & the water park.
6. We are only closed 6 1/2 days per year! Christmas Day, Thanksgiving Day, Memorial Day, Labor Day, 4th of July, New Year's Day, and at 3pm Christmas Eve

Director DeeDee is a very poor communicated. Teachers are not trained on emergency situations and kids are put at risk.

Heritage is a wonderful place for children to learn and just be happy. The teachers love and hug on the kids all day long and they are consistent with the staff they hire. There is not a lot of turn over which is so important for kids. I wouldn't hesitate to put my children in their care as it is the closest thing to home without being at home.

Long post! My son just left Heritage Learning Center to start Kindergarten. We joined Heritage 18months ago when I decided to take him out of a Montessori because of all the good things I had heard from a couple of friends about Heritage. Well, today after attending his elementary school "Meet the Teacher' evening, I can say I made the right decision! Heritage taught my 4yr old how to read amongst many other great things! He's great at subtractions, additions and more!
His Kindergarten teacher showed me a list of 27 words that he's expected to know by THE END of his kindergarten year. Showed the list to my son right there and he read ALL 27 words with NO help - mispronounced only one word. Needless to say, his kindergarten teacher was very impressed, as were other parents present! Made me super proud. My daughter also attended Heritage and her development and academic performance is exceptional. I love love Heritage! Staff are friendly, kind and experienced! Highly recommend!

I toured Heritage last week and was quoted one price for starting in January or February. I called this week to discuss enrollment and was told they had raised their rates by $20-30 per month starting in January. I reminded them that they quoted me a different price knowing I was looking a month or two out. They did not care that they altered the price on me in four days and once I called about enrollment gave me a higher price despite being reminded of the quote and how the price compared locally. This is an extremely unprofessional and unethical sales practice to say the least. I feel my time was wasted in considering them and comparing them at the lower price that was quoted when they switched prices four days later. If they do not correct this I plan to report them to the BBB, FTC or relevant agencies by January. I have also wondered if this is also possibly illegal as a sales practice(?). The new prices are in line with some of the most expensive preschools in McKinney such as Goddard wwhich is also an accredited private preschool, but the ratio is higher at Heritage in one class by an extra 5:1. I have two children under 4 and don't appreciate my time being wasted. Again, I am severely disappointed with how this was handled.

My son just graduated from PreK at Heritage. He was at Heritage for two years. I am a first grade teacher, so I'm judging this preschool from a parent and teacher's perspective. I am so impressed with Heritage! My son loved going there and he grew, developed, and learned so much in his time there. The small group reading program they do with the PreK kids was right on for what students need in order to be prepared for kindergarten. The cost was very reasonable when compared with other preschools and daycares. My son could not have had better PreK teachers. They were so kind and loving, but they also had amazing classroom management. All of the staff were friendly and helpful on a consistent basis. Not only did I know my son would be cared for every day when I dropped him off, but I knew he was going to be learning and thriving. I highly recommend Heritage to all my teacher friends! Go for a visit. You'll be glad!

Top notch Child care center! My kids absolutely love going there and love there teachers. The staff is very professional and my wife and I are so thankful for this school. It's home away from home for us....highly recommended!

ATTENTION PARENTS! STOP HERE YOU'VE FOUND IT
If you are looking for a kind, caring, fun Child Care Center this is it. Heritage Learning Center can't be beat. My grandkids would not even think about attending any other Learning center and they dreading the day they are too old to attend.
My four love being taken to school by a bus driven by their teacher. She starts their day off with a big hug and a smile and their positive disposition is set for the day. They each count the minutes until they can return to attend the afterschool program. It's a school with fun educational choices. Upon arrival they receive a snack, drink and a bit of down time before attending the homework help class. This class is given to take the pressure off parents who may work late and not have time to work with their student at home. Once homework is complete the child gets a choice to go play outside weather permitting or go to a room with computers to play learning games for 30 minutes. When time is up they switch to the opposite choice. No child is ever stuck in a room in front of a TV they are given great opportunities. The computer room is filled with educational games and equipment to allow the children to have fun while still learning. Then there's that elaborate playground with enough imagination it even entertains the adult visitors. And no worries the small children have their own separate playground so everyone stays happy and safe. During the summer time they even have water play in showers sprinkles from above, cook-outs, contest and even an occasional petting zoo visit. It's like Disneyland. I once told the director, Detria Schultz that I'm sad that I'm too old to attend, she laughed, But I was serious.
I love how everything is directed to a positive personal touch in teaching and in play. Home cooked healthy meals that challenge a child's taste and makes children open for healthier foods at home. The overall focus is on communication, education and understanding where parents and teachers work together to accomplish the best goals for their child. Once your take your child they will not want to leave and you will have peace of mind they are safe. No complaints from this grandma.......It's a cool place to be, per my youngest grandson.

I have nothing but good things to say about this amazing school! I am truly blessed to have my daughter be apart of the heritage family! She has learned more within the last year than she ever has! My daughter can say words in Spanish, identify her number and letters and much much more before the age of 3. The women who work in the classrooms and at the front office are so sweet and helpful! I would recommend this school to anyone needing a new school! You are always greeted with a warm friendly smile! My daughter and I always feel welcome! Definatly number one school in the Dallas area!!!
