A few months ago I started working as a teaching assistant for children with additional needs in a secondary school nurture department, and discovered a love for helping young people especially embrace life despite the disadvantages that May have been thrown their way. In this position I provided support for a student with Angelman Syndrome, a rare genetic disorder affecting both physical and mental development. She required support with toileting, walking and various other physical activities, and I also assisted her general learning by preparing appropriate activities for her stage of development. She also experienced short seizures. When she was not in school, or I was requested elsewhere by my oversight, I also assisted with other students in the class, including students with autism, behavioural challenges and a few students with no specific diagnosis. In addition, I have worked in general childcare (both paid and voluntary) for over 5 years, and in that capacity have also occasionally supported other children with autism, Down Syndrome and ADHD. I'm currently looking for temporary positions over the next few weeks until returning to my school position, at which time I will be interested in work outside of school hours.

Enthusiastic, professional with a vast range of SEN experience
| I am a special needs teacher working as an Autism Advisor, in London. I have worked as a personal assistant to children with additional needs for 6 years. In this time, I have provided respite in the home and in the community. I take the boys swimming, to the park, horse riding, to museums, soft play and trampoline parks etc. As well as a qualified SEN teacher, I am also a qualified swimming teacher. I have extensive experience using AAC including High Tech devices and PECS. I am confident with the use of visuals, providing sensory input and associated ASC strategies. I enjoy being out and about and giving children the opportunity to explore the big wide world. I also have a registered therapy dog, Buddy. He is hypoallergenic and proves very popular with anyone and everyone! He would be able to come and help if you wish! I would be able to provide after school care one night a week, some weekend work and some holiday work. A family looking for flexible hours would be great.

I am patient, organised, pro-active and conscientious in my role.
| As a foster carer I have cared for children with varying degrees of complex needs. The last two children were greatly affected by their conditions. I met and cared for a newborn in hospital until he was able to join my family at home. Whilst on SCU I realised he was blind. He came home with severe developmental delay. bi-lateral brain damage and severe visual impairment needing a lot of medication. I cared for him until adoption in 2016. Since then I have a toddler with pre-diagnosis of Autism who suffers very high levels of Sensory Processing Disorder. My experience is varied on a wide scale. Previously I worked as a nanny in central London doing various jobs for 11 years before I had my daughter in 2002.
