| I am an American-Canadian, college graduate with a medical office assistant certificate. I have one year's experience as a nanny to a family with four boys, ages 2-8. I have two year's experience as a house cleaner. I have successfully completed a course in emergency first responder (CPR/First Aid). In my previous experience as a nanny, my duties included: waking up the children, getting them dressed and ready for school, making breakfast and lunch, taking the older kids to school, and caring for the youngest throughout the day and tidying up the home, and occasionally taking them to their various activities. After school, I would pick up the children, make them a snack, help them with their homework and watch them until their parents returned home from work. Depending on the parents' schedule, I would also prepare the family's dinner. In reflection, I always allow children to speak freely to help them boost their confidence and help them understand that their voice matters. I am organised, which is just the interior designer in me. I might start cleaning a little more than the dishes after cooking; I'm known to organise a cupboard or bookshelf at random, so forgive me ahead of time. I just feel this helps the children navigate their environment a lot easier, especially if they need to concentrate on a new task/activity. I get stuck into activities and show interest in whatever the child is into as a positive reinforcer. In the instance that I don't have anything to contribute, I allow them to teach me or talk about their passions as it allows us to bond over something that interests them. On the other hand, I'm happy to take them to the park or sit with them whilst they play in the garden just to provide variety. Alternatively, not everything is about play but I like to read story books and make learning fun. I know homework isn't always the most exciting part of an evening but I approach learning with enthusiasm for sure.

I've had almost 8 years of childcare experience, varying from babysitting nannying and an au pair, with experience for caring for children aged 18months to 11 y/o. Last year I was in America as an au pair for 3 months looking after 3 children 8, 6 and 2. In November 2014 I cared for 2 little girls aged 5 and 3.
