I have a big family with children from the ages of 13 & below, which meant I do a lot of babysitting, which led to babysitting for family friends & acquaintances.
This helped me decide I wanted to work with children in the future. I studied at Vision West Notts college were I gained my Level 3 in Childcare. Throughout this time I learnt about child development, safeguarding and well-being. I did this through observations, placements, assignments and exams. Whilst at college I had placements in childminders, day nurseries and schools.
After finishing the course one of my placements offered me a job, I took this on for a few months and really enjoyed working with the children and the team. However I decided I wanted to go to university to study Health and Social care.
This has then developed my knowledge further through a variety of modules. During my time here I volunteered at CHICKS which is a retreat for disadvantaged children, allowing them to have a break from their everyday routine. This opportunity was amazing and allowed me to work with children aged 14 -15 and make a difference to their lives.
I have finished my degree, hoping to do a Masters to be a Nurse, meanwhile I’m working at my local youth club and Centre Parcs.
