The client is a beautiful young man with complex medical and care needs and requires constant support and supervision throughout the day. As a personal assistant you will provide a variety of personal and practical services for (and with) them to enhance his quality of life and contribute to a positive living environment for the client and his family. These services generally fall under three categories: • Personal Care As the name suggests, this care is personal in nature and will include, but is not limited to, administering medication and attending to bathing, grooming and toileting. The client is unable to complete any daily tasks himself, therefore he requires someone to do it for him, with the upmost dignity and respect. • Companionship The client loves to socialise with his trusted care-givers, and though they are non-verbal, he is able to clearly communicate a need for companionship. Therefore we require that Personal Assistants provide conversation, take him for walks, take him swimming, take him to the park where he rides adapted bikes and any other stimulating activities we think the client might enjoy. • Home Helper As the name suggests, this will involve light housekeeping such as making the clients bed, cleaning medical equipment, restocking supplies, etc. This will also involve accompanying the client to appointments and running errands. Additional responsibilities include: • Performing other reasonable duties as assigned • Recording all medication administration accurately • Reporting any significant behaviours or incidents accurately • Regularly communicating with the rest of the care team
