I’m contacting you on behalf of my dad - Bob. He’s 84 and in declining health with being hardly unable to support his legs when walking (he needs shadowing) and he also has restricted movement in his left arm due to an injury last year. He has lots of mobility aids and walking frames and a stairlift. He’s in Sunningdale living on his own. He also has continence issues - not enough warning for toilet, wears Tena pants. Uses commode at night. He falls daily, usually later in day / teatime / getting to bed. He is a polite, well Mannered, grateful, senior gentlemen - just a bit stubborn and sad at losing his mobility. He was managing just about to dress himself and get downstairs in the mornings (he wakes around 7am) but will need help going forward with that. He has always gone to bed early eve but it’s earlier now as he gets so tired. And his body / legs are weaker after a long day. Hid evening routine is dinner, wash / shower and bed spanning from 5-6-ish pm.

I'm looking for an occasional night sitter for my father, and possibly a live in carer for 1 to 2 weeks while I take a respite break. My father is 89 and has mild dementia. He also has some underlying heart conditions (aortic stenosis and cardiovascular disease) and has both bladder and bowel incontinence and is deaf in both ears (but uses hearing aids). With the role as a night sitter, the main part of the role would simply be being present in the house in case there is an emergency or my father needs someone to help him (I currently stay with him 5 nights out of 7 each week and he usually manages fine without any help). There would also be a couple of small pieces of housework to do – usually wake Dad in the morning, make his bed and wash up a few dishes in the evening. As a live-in carer my father would need someone to help him wash and dress in the morning, prepare a simple breakfast (e.g. tea and toast), prepare an evening meal and do the dishes and then do laundry, vacuum the house and put out the bins as needed. Other than that, the main part of the job would be being present in the house (or nearby) so someone can help Dad if there in an emergency etc My father is a very kind and cheerful person and typically gets on well with all his current carers and enjoys chatting to people and is very obliging when asked to do something. He does sometimes have mild confusion and need guidance e.g. reminder over what day of the week it is or which day the bins go out.
