About the business
I have been a daycare provider for 24 years, caring for infants through school age children. Before I began my home business, I was special education teacher for 8 years. I decided to stay home when I had my first child. As my own family grew, I knew then I wanted start my own home daycare and still be available for my own children.
My goal is for parents to have peace of mind that, when they are at work, their child is being cared for in a safe and caring environment.
Our days are scheduled to include time for small and large motor activities, music, reading books, outdoor time, arts/crafts, and much more. I also provide breakfast, lunch, and 2 snacks. I participate in a family childcare provider association to further my knowledge in early childhood.

This is not your average day care, you can drop your kids off and feel comfortable that they are being cared for. Not only are they being cared for; they are learning to use their fine and large motor skills as well as how to interact with other children. Melba always takes great care of my girls! My husband and I love the home environment and small group of kids. More importantly, our girls love Melba and are always excited to go there.

We found Melba after we had a bad experience at another daycare and I thank God that we did. She's been amazing and has watched my son since he was 9 months old. She has loved him like he was her own. He has learned so much at her home and he is ready to start kindergarten thanks to her. She has the patience of a saint and does so many fun activities with the kids. My little guy loves coming home telling me everything they did that day, showing me his artwork and letting me know what he ate (he even tells me what she makes better than I do). The communication is open on both ends and I have never felt safer leaving him with anyone else. She has become a member of our family and we will miss seeing her everyday. If you're looking for a nurturing place that is like a second home to your little one, run, don't walk to Sunny Daycare!

Melba is great! My son is currently at her daycare and loves it. We left a daycare where he cried when I left him and came home constantly with bite marks and scratches. Now he is happy and hates to leave in the evening when I pick him up. I highly recommend Sunny Daycare.

Melba is the best!!! She watched both my daughters. She watched my older daughter after school each day when she started Kindergarten, and then my younger daughter from the age of 18 months when our previous babysitter quit, until she started Kindergarten, and even after that, Melba watched both my girls after school until they were in about 2nd and 5th grade!!! She truly is the best. She is patient and kind, taught my girls so much (the younger one never even went to pre-school (I didn't need one because I had Melba!!), she was flexible with times in terms of drop off and pick-up. We just never had a single complaint about her or any problems, and she was a Godsend when my previous sitter quit on us. I don't know what we would have done without her. We got to know her and her family, and they are just the nicest people. Melba is a wonderful caregiver, and I highly recommend her for any age child. She's the best!!

Melba is truly amazing! She is a sweet, gentle and kind person as well as a great teacher/care giver. She started watching my son when he was approximately seven months old until he was ready for kindergarten. He loved going by her, and I felt comfortable knowing that he was in a clean, safe and happy environment. He not only had fun while being there, but also learned so much. He was more than ready for kindergarten with all that he learned! She keeps the kids busy throughout the day with lessons, reading, fun games, crafts/projects and outdoor play. I highly recommend Melba and Sunny Daycare!

Our family loves Sunny Daycare! Our son was very well cared for and he learned so much while under their care (he started there as a toddler). Melba is not only great, she made us feel welcome. She is also great at communication, if we had a concern, she was very good about addressing it and getting back to us. We wanted a place that would be safe, educational, and close to home. We found what we were looking for and much more with Sunny Daycare!

We've had many great sitters and nannys but our time at Sunny Daycare was truly our best childcare experience. The kids were welcomed into a loving home every day. They were great friends with the other kids and were way more than pre-school ready when the time came. This is an outstanding home daycare.

What an amazing place! You can drop your kids off and know that they're not just being watched; they're learning so much and are in great hands! Ms Melba always took such great care of my boys! Melba and her daycare are great. We knew every morning we dropped our daughter off she was in good hands and would be well taken care of. Our daughter loved going each morning and looked forward to what was in store for her each day. We highly recommend Melba and Sunny Daycare. You will not be disappointed!

I am writing to express gratitude for the exceptional care Melba had given to my daughter. When I dropped off my daughter, I was immediately at ease because I knew she was going to have amazing care. The love, fun, care, and even the healthy foods provided were more than a mother could ask for. You will be informed about your child's day as soon as you pick him/her up. The activities provided for the children are creative and exciting. Thank you so much for making me feel like I left my child in the best hands possible

Ms. Melba has provided excellent care to our two daughters over the past 5 years. She loves and cares for my kids as her own. Her home is always safe and clean. The kids have a routine and know the expectations at Ms. Melba's daycare. Electronics and TV time do not exist. Kids learn to play with each other, play with toys, go outside, use their imagination, read, and work on puzzles. She openly and quickly communicates about the day and behavior of my kids while maintaining confidentiality from other parents. Meals and snacks are kid and parent approved - healthy and delicious! When we drive by, my kids always point out her day care and ask when they will see Ms. Melba.
