Pip's Place is a family daycare providing children ages 2-13 years old a stimulating, nurturing and safe setting to be themselves and to be the best they can be.

Other than creating and having fun, children at Pip's Place will be able to learn, develop and tout their emotional, cognitive, linguistic and social skills. Through our Montessori-based curriculum and an enviable amount of play and interaction, children here are primed for now and the future.

Indoor and outdoor activities, lessons and play are guaranteed. Pip's Place isn't just for books, maps, puzzles, art, craft and toys; it's for applying hands-on, practical life skills. We never tire of the awesomeness of kids pouring lemonade from a pitcher to a glass. (Spills are expected and welcomed.)

What is the Montessori Method?

Maria Montessori, born in 1870, was a trailblazing Italian physician and educator. By close observation of children, Montessori realized certain key elements to how they learned and matured. She also imagined and built the ideal context and method in which children will thrive.

Montessori believed in independent learning that happens through touch, movement, sight and sound. Her "classrooms," therefore, were non-traditional. She understood that each child is unique and learns at his or her own pace to follow his or her specific interests. Montessori also appreciated how a class of mixed ages can only benefit children: they have role models to follow and become leaders themselves.

Many think Montessori once said something like: "A child's mind is like a sponge." What she really said is: "The child has a different relation to his environment from ours... the child absorbs it. The things he sees are not just remembered; they form part of his soul."
